One thing that can’t be easily surpassed- a high quality happy hour. Having sniffed out the area’s greatest offerings I’m excited to announce I’ve found a hard to beat contender.
Yeah, there are wing nights all over town but where else can you get delicious homemade wings, and classy cocktails for $5 each in a bar that is relaxing and sophisticated surrounded by down-home southern hospitality and ornate furniture?
I’ve found that Bubba’s happy hour is one you can’t miss. They have weekly happy hour specials but the one day you can’t top is Monday nights.
On Monday nights, you can find the special: Whiskey and Wings wing night.
What is Whiskey and Wings Night at Bubba’s?
On Mondays, from 4pm until close, you can find specials for $5 wing platters and select whiskeys.
Their bourbon options consist of:
- Buffalo Trace
- Bulleit
- Cedar Ridge
- Elijah Craig
- Maker’s Mark
- Four Roses Yellow Label
- Old Forester
Their Rye options for $5 include:
- Bulleit Rye
- George Dickel
- Old Overholt
- Rittenhouse
You can also have other drinks for special prices too like Crown Royal, Dewar’s, Jameson, Powers, and Tin Cup.
Their wing option, for $5, gives you 10 wings covered in any of their select sauces:
- Bacon-onion-whiskey Jam
- Classic Buffalo
- Cajun Glaze
- Carolina Gold
- Nashville Hot
- Alabama White
I had ordered the Alabama White sauce:
It was a nice sauce. A little like a mayonnaise sauce with a slight flavor of vinegar mixed in. Almost like a delicious deviled egg (I’ll get to those in a bit).
Our group also ordered a variety of sauces so I got to try some others like the Cajun Glaze. I would highly recommend ordering that flavor next time. It was sweet and tangy with a little kick.
Bubba’s Happy Hour
Along with Whiskey and Wing Night, you can capitalize on their regular happy hour. From 4pm until 6pm, you can tip back drink specials featuring $5 liquors, craft beer, and wine.
Their happy hour food options include $5
- Petite Pimento Cheese Plate
- buttermilk crackers, cheese spread, house pickles and bacon crumbles
- Fried Okra Spears
- served with Bubba remoulade and charred lemon aioli
- Fried green tomatoes
- served with buttermilk cream
- White cheddar grits cakes
- Anson Mills grits griddled and topped with fire-roasted tomato puree and grilled vegetables
- Deviled eggs
- Topped with paprika and pecan-smoked bacon
Along with the wings, I ordered the deviled eggs. Oh my gosh, were they delicious. 6 large eggs stuffed with delicious appeared in front of me. The bacon was crispy, and the filling was just how I like it with a little hint of vinegar.
It’s a really fun environment to visit with friends after a day of work. Bubba’s bar space is full of big comfy chairs and couches. We also noted that it was nice that it wasn’t too loud.
We didn’t have to talk over obnoxious music or loud crowd noise. My only complaint is that I hate when they have the news on in a (restaurant) bar. Nothing worse than being distracted by news stories, weather, commercials, etc. Turn it off.
All-in-all, it was a great evening with friends. I got to experience a new happy hour in town and now I want others to enjoy it too. Save the date for next Monday night full of great wings and whiskey at Bubba’s!
