Fong’s Pizza was the first place we decided to start for our summer restaurant list. Fong’s is a local pizza place and bar located on 4th street.
I remember when I first heard about Fong’s. It was from a friend, an Asian friend, and she had said it was so good and it was her favorite place to go for pizza. I still remember what I pictured when I first heard about it– A small and dark Chinese restaurant with limited seating, and serving a couple pizzas. There would also be an old Chinese couple working and taking orders — Then, again, I got a recommendation from another friend that we need to get the Crab Rangoon pizza. That, too, fueled my original idea of what it was going to be like.
Wrong!
When Megan and I showed up to the restaurant it was quite an eye-opener. There was a full bar, 2 dining rooms with plenty of seating (mostly booths), and fun things all over the wall. When we sat down we opened the menus and checked out the pizzas. They have a huge selection of delicious sounding pizzas. We wish we could try all of them, but we decided to go with what we had been recommended; The crab rangoon pizza.
When you order you have 3 options – 10″/ 16″ , White/wheat dough, thin/hand-tossed crust. We went with 10″ (could have easily finished the 16″), white dough, and thin crust. You gotta get the thin crust for the crab rangoon pizza. It just makes sense. The wait time for the pizza was about 15 minutes, a pretty average wait. The first bite was delicious. A creamy crab rangoo filling was the replacement for the sauce. For the toppings, asiago and mozzarella cheeses covered the crab rangoon filling along with some green onion (hardly noticeable) and crispy egg roll strips. Now, for the (second) best part- A sweet chili sauce was drizzled on top for the exclamation point.
So. Delicious.
