It’s (officially) summer! That means there are plenty of opportunities to fire up the grill and get family and friends over to enjoy the outdoors and a great meal.
These are my 6 S.U.M.M.E.R. grilling tips!
- Structure
Before you start anything, you want to have a plan. Make sure you have everything organized. Keep all of your seasonings, utensils, recipes, and other grilling necessities near by and ready. A baking sheet, or a ‘nifty’ dish that your wife or girlfriend picked up from Target’s clearance section is a great way keep everything organized. - Uh-Oh!
Avoid the uh-oh of grilling. The “uh-oh, the tank just ran out of gas” is something you don’t want to be saying while you’re grilling. Always make sure you have a spare tank, or check a couple hours before you grill so you aren’t cooking and saying “Uh-oh!” - Meat thermometer
For those larger cuts of meat, this is a great investment. You don’t want to end up over cooking at expensive steak and not enjoy it. It will also keep your cuts looking more professional rather than cutting into the thickest part of your meat to examine if it is done or not. - Master griller apron
Use your Father’s Day gift that your daughter picked out for you. She’ll love seeing you wear it. - Entertainment
Pick out a playlist Songza to fit your activity. They always have great playlists. Nothing better than great music to listen to while you’re out on the patio. I highly recommend these stations from Songza:
Stars and Stripes Forever!
Patriotic Country
Heartland America
Barbecuing Playlists
- Rest
Once your meat is finished grilling, take it off and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows those juices to get back into your meat to make it more flavorful and juicy. Make sure to rest after all of your cooking and eating, too. You’ve earned it!
