Here ye, here ye. That bowl of warm oats you eat for breakfast has feelings too. If you treat them right, they’ll treat you right and leave you satisfied until your stale leftovers for lunch. These are 5 ways to totally screw up your oatmeal.
5. All Oatmeal Is Created Equal
Yeah, that’s not true. There are all sorts of different types of oats and style of oats to choose from. You have steel-cut to Irish style that require different cooking methods. I definitely recommend you check out the steel-cut and ditch the classic Quaker Oats canister.
4. A Bowl Is A Bowl
Cold oatmeal sucks and it usually happens too often to us because we’re eating out of the wrong kind of bowl. No, you don’t need to head to the store to get a bowl just for your oatmeal. Use coffee mug, or a deep bowl to keep that heat in. You’ll enjoy warm oatmeal for a longer time.
3. No Matter How You Cook It, It’s All The Same
No, no, no. If you add your oats to boiling water, you’ll have a more textured, and wholesome oatmeal. If you add the oats to cold water, and bring to a boil you are going to have a creamier oatmeal.
2. Milk = Creamy
If you want a creamy, not gooey, oatmeal it’s all about the use of water. Follow the directions on the canister, or packet and then add a splash of your favorite dairy.
1. Eat As-Is
No one eats a steak without adding a little extra somethin’ somethin’ to it, so why wouldn’t you doctor up your oats? Wow, what a comparison. Breakfast to dinner; steak to oatmeal. What the heck, Foodster? Anyway, after your water is boiling add some spices to it. Make sure they’re ground because no one wants to take time picking out chunks of cloves or cinnamon sticks.
HAVE A GREAT BREAKFAST 🙂
