This might be some of the best homemade sauteed shrimp I have ever had.
[slideshow]I had just bought a one pound bag of shrimp from Trader Joes – I was a day too early for their shrimp and scallop bag.. bummer.
Let’s get to the recipe –>
————————————————————————————-
Here is what you need ::
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Cajun Spice
- 1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper cut into strips.
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
————————————————————————————-
First make sure your 1lb. bag of shrimp is thawed.
- A quick way to do that is to fill your sink up with hot water, and throw the bag in there for a couple of minutes and your frozen shrimp will be thawed!
Put the flour on a plate and season with a healthy amount of salt, pepper and Cajun spice; mix with a fork to combine evenly. When I say healthy amount, I mean really put a ton on. Then, dredge the shrimp in the seasoned flour to coat all sides.I had to keep adding more seasonings after every 5 or so pieces.
Next, heat the butter and oil in a heavy bottomed pan over medium heat until butter stops foaming and just starts to turn a light brown. Add the shrimp, and give it a toss, saute for 5 minutes until the shrimp is firm and there is a crispy coating on the outside. It’s completely fine to taste test one… or 2 after a couple of minutes.
Put the pan back on the heat. Add the lemon juice and chicken broth, garlic, and red pepper. Give it a stir and let it cook down for 1 minute. Put the shrimp back in the pan and let them soak up all of the flavors.
Plate them, and serve these sauteed shrimp up with Alfredo and noodles. YUM
